Quick Synopsis:

Nobody remembers Freddy Krueger after the people of Springwood successfully quarantined all those who remembered him. Those who remember Freddy are institutionalized and given anti-dreaming pills. Freddy makes a deal with Jason Vorhees to help the people of Springwood remember, but it doesn’t all go to plan and soon Freddy has to deal with Jason’s rampage.

The Bad:

• The “pinball” fight between Freddy and Jason in dreamland.
• Deputy Stubbs dies too quickly.
• Lori’s friend Gibb kind of dies in a lame way.

The Good:

• The young Jason Vorhees at camp.
• The background story on Freddy.
• When Freddy’s makes his return with Mark.

Final Thoughts:

I thought was actually really well done. There were lots of faithful tie-ins to both storylines. After all this time, I never knew that Camp Crystal Lake was just down the road from Springwood!

Quick Synopsis:

Michael Meyers finally concludes the rivalry with Laurie Strode, and then continues his rampage on reality TV. Producers Freddie and Nora, seek fame and fortune with the creation of a new live-reality-TV website called DangerTainment. For their first show, they select a group of six college students to explore the long-abandoned remains of the home of the murderer Michael Myers.

The Bad:

• The introductory sequence was a half-baked attempt to make the story continuity fit into this totally random episode.
• The Freddie Harris (Busta Rhymes) character was totally idiotic.  Can we have a do over?  Let’s kill him in the opening scene.
• All the idiotic extra characters like Nora (Tyra Banks), Scott, etc.
• There was too much switching between the low quality headset cameras and actual shots.
• DangerTainment is the best they could come up with?

The Good:

• The internet and PDA communication with Deckard.
• Skeletons fall on half naked Donna character.
• The creepy clown guy in the asylum that Michael actually doesn’t kill.

Final Thoughts:

As with any installment of the Halloween series you don’t expect much different from the usual formula; however this time I think we have seen the idea-well run dry. The first fifteen minutes of the movie play are like part of a different movie. This movie cost $13 million to make and I have a feeling half of that probably went to Busta Rhymes. This was a totally random and disappointing installment to the Jamie Lee Curtis era Halloween franchise.

The Bad:

• Too long for the story. 139min
• Far too many once-in-a-lifetime events happen in the span of two days.
• Too many super-human qualities for the main character.
• Too much running.

The Good:

• Pretty graphically gruesome.
• Maintains a steady amount of tension.
• It keeps you emotionally attached to the villagers.
• You could probably write all kinds of interpretive essays about this movie.

This movie is highly overrated on sites like IMDB, scoring 7.9/10 (72,500 votes) back in Oct 2009.
Apocalypto should be re-titled “the luckiest guy that ever lived”.
I mean come on…a solar eclipse, outrunning a jaguar, jumping over a waterfall AND encountering Spanish explorers in the span of like 2 solid days of running non-stop.
